08/09 - Tempest in a Teacup

Some things are inevitable. Along with death, taxes, and Julie flubbing her lines, it was a simply a matter of time before Amber snapped. And while I often delight in the houseguests’ dysfunction, I worry about Amber’s stability.

Clearly the cocktail waitress from Las Vegas needs to learn that once you tell someone a secret, it’s no longer secret. (This is particularly true if you’re living in a house that's crawling with microphones and cameras.)

Amber's secret shame--which she confided in Eric after knowing him for three weeks--is that she falsely told a boyfriend she was pregnant…twice...while on drugs. Eric didn’t share this sordid story with anyone, but he did inform Dick that he had information that would cause the house to reevaluate Amber’s character. Understandably Amber was furious at Eric for using her confession for his personal gain, but shouldn’t she be most angry with herself for giving him that ammunition? In a game rooted in trickery and manipulation, why did she leave herself so vulnerable?

I’m not trying to let Eric off the hook; after all, what he said to Dick was pretty dastardly. But what Amber must also recognize is that Dick kept his knowledge a secret until it served his agenda. It’s not as though Dick was concerned about his good pal Amber. No, he just wanted Amber on his side and exploited her to make that happen.

Yet as angry as she was, Amber did not vote against Eric. She couldn’t, because she had previously swore on her daughter’s life that she wouldn’t. Now you have to wonder, what would provoke someone to swear on the life of her child? Is a reality show involving bunny suits that important? Next time, Amber, a simple "I promise" will suffice.

In the end Kail went home and, frankly, it was pretty insignificant. At least the vote wasn’t a landslide. For the first time I was legitimately unsure who would be leaving the house.

I’m glad Eric remained, and I’m tickled that his in-house sweetheart became the new HoH. I would have been okay with Jen winning instead, but I’m hoping Jessica will work to get Dick out of the house.

Despite the entertaining drama he creates, that man really needs to go. As the episode was ending he was seen accusing Jameka of being a liar. I really wish I was playing the game against Dick. If he called me a liar I’d say, “Of course I am, what’s your point? It’s Big Brother, remember?”

Other thoughts:

+ Wow, Dick actually does know (B-list, no-name, second-rate) celebrities! Jeepers, I’m so (not) impressed!

+ When Kail gets home I hope she treats her husband to a new hairstyle.

The way I understood it, and I could well be wrong, was that Amber confessed to Eric that she lied to her boyfriend about having two abotions making the total 4. She had in fact only had two. The above part is irrelevant to me but is important in game strategy because I predict the morally hypocrite Dick would be outraged. I believe if Eric spilled the beans it would get Amber evicted. Some would be outraged by the abortions but the reason she would go would be if she could lie about this she could lie about anything.

Dani and Dick's faces were priceless when the vote was revealed. Their faces became even more priceless when Jessica won HOH. Dick looked extremely worried and Dani showed some signs of terror. She saw the destruction of her own "brilliant" game strategy and her own demise in one night. Me thinks she was counting heavily on daddy's rage strategy to make things go her way. Me thinks she feels mightly foolish today and I wonder if her next move will be to separate herself from Dick in an attempt to save herself.

The fun part will be watching these two paranoid personalities twist and spin over the rogue vote. This may even have them re-evaluate Eric as being the extra Kail vote.

I think Dick is a rancid personality but I do believe he would throw himself across the railroad tracks for Dani but I don't think Dani would for him.

Oh I wish I had live feeds.

I agree totally that the you couldn't buy the look on Dick's face after Jessica won HOH! He still resumed with his intimidation tactics on Jameka and Dustin. Amber will calm down and realize that she flew off the handle for no reason, but as Rick James said, 'Cocaine is a hell of a drug'.

It would be in Jessica's best interest to put Dick or Dani on the block with someone like Jen or Zach. That way when one of them wins POV, she can replace that nomination with either ED or Dani (whichever one wasn't nominated). I personally think backdooring Dick is the way to go because most people in the house (even his alliance) would vote him out!

CBS needs to wake up and realize that this guy is not entertaining and everyone that votes for him as their favorite HG is just sick.

Thanks to Big Brother Blogger for also pointing out that he's a nobody bartender that doesn't know anybody. Come on, the backup bassist for Guns 'n Roses and the chick that lost Supernova...those are hardly celebrities.

I agree with you Matt that back dooring Dick may be the best way to get him out. Since Jen and Dani have had the most POV wins I would put up Jen and Dani. Going with probability I would say one of them will win POV and go off the block. I would then move in on Dick. I enjoy the BB blogger but I would list the celebrities Dick knows as D list not B lol.

D-List! LOL! That's awesome...

First let me say how much I appreciate your insightful (often hysterical) comments.

I agree that backdooring Dick is a fantastic strategy that I'd love to see implemented. My only concern is that people will be afraid to nominate him b/c he's so erratic and in-your-face.

Also, if we're being honest, the celebrities that hang with Dick aren't B-list or D-list. They're not even celebrities! Just moody people who wear black clothes.

I think that the way they celebrated after Jess won HOH pretty much showed Dick that they aren't afraid of the 'big bad wolf' anymore.

They have the numbers as long as nobody freaks out and Eric will hopefully come up with a crafty proposal.

The problem with their alliance is that Amber is so unstable. Dustin, Jameka, Eric, and Jessica are shaping up to be your final four.
